bringing
connection
to trauma
Rx4Trauma is a telehealth practice that connects you to Dr. Bhargava- a family medicine physician with a special interest in mental health. Dr. Bhargava is able to prescribe medications while also providing trauma counseling. Because Dr. Bhargava has over two decades of experience in medicine she is a great resource for addressing trauma which can result from feeling unheard in the medical field and complications that arise from treatments and chronic disease. In addition, Dr. Bhargava uses therapy in cases of anxiety and depression, childhood trauma and relationship issues. Addressing mental health has been shown to improve physical health and provide a better quality of life.
*Rx4Trauma is not credentialed with any insurance companies but can provide a superbill for anyone who would like to submit it themselves to their insurance company.

“In order to change, people need to become aware of their sensations and the way that their bodies interact with the world around them. Physical self-awareness is the first step in releasing the tyranny of the past.”
Meet Dr. Bhargava
I am a family medicine doctor with over 20 years of experience. I grew up in the southern suburbs of Chicago. I attended college at the University of Illinois (Go Illini!) and medical school at Midwestern University. After medical school I completed my family medicine residency at LaGrange Hospital, where I was chosen to be a chief resident from 2004 to 2005.
I initially took a position at my former residency program and helped train future physicians.
The call of clinical medicine became louder and I ended up leaving the faculty position to join a practice in Indiana. After working there for five years, I decided it was time to open up my own practice. I have loved having my own practice but it became obvious that mental health care was lacking in our area. I decided to complete a three year training to be a somatic experience practitioner so that I would be able to offer trauma counseling to my patients in addition to medications. Now due to the lack of community resources, I have decided to use my skills to try to fill that void and concentrate on mental health. Since I am utilizing a virtual platform I hope to help people in Illinois and Indiana.
A Bit About Therapy
Guiding You On the Path of Self-Healing
Somatic Experience (SE) therapy focuses on addressing how trauma resides in the body. SE does not require the person to re-tell or re-live the traumatic event. Instead, it offers the opportunity to engage the body’s instinctual fight, flight and freeze responses through sensations and images. Individuals with anxiety are able to relax into a sense of peace and safety. And those stuck in depression are able to transform their feelings of hopelessness and numbness into empowerment. Because Dr. Bhargava is a physician she has a direct understanding and interest in specifically addressing medical trauma. This occurs from medical complications, chronic disease and not feeling heard by the healthcare system to name a few things. Dr. Bhargava hopes that using somatic therapy to address medical trauma will lead to a restoration of health and an ability to engage with the healthcare system again.
Menopause Care
Empowering you to feel better and be better
Perimenopause and menopause are woefully misunderstood in the medical community. In 2002, a women's health study was released which changed the course of menopause treatment and in turn left women with few options to address their symptoms. Now as we are seeing more studies released and more women feeling empowered to address their systems, menopause is moving back into the forefront of medical conversations, but we still have a lot of work to do. As a woman in her late 40s, Dr. Bhargava felt the need to address her symptoms and do her own research. In turn she would like to share what she has learned with other women. She is also in the process of becoming certified as a menopause provider. She offers consultations to discuss menopause care- including- but not limited to diet, medications and supplements. She relies on evidence-based medicine and applies it in a safe, supportive environment, much as she would expect would be done for herself when she sees doctors. Dr. Bhargava can also prescribe medications to help with perimenopause and menopausal symptoms (these will require in person visits).
